Stylistic Collision of Systems:Topuria’s compact boxing-heavy, forward-pressure game versus Makhachev’s pressure-grappling and distance control would be a high-IQ contrast. Both use range discipline, both rely on balance and timing, but through totally different methods — it’s a “pressure mirror match.”
Generational Narrative:Topuria represents the “new-era, new-media” fighter — charismatic, European crossover appeal. Makhachev represents the old-school lineage — Dagestani system, merit-through-grind. It’s a philosophical duel as much as an athletic one.

Competing in Other Combat Sports
Rule 3.4 (Eligibility of Amateur Striking Combat Sports Participants) explicitly states that any boxer who has competed in other amateur striking combat sports — such as kickboxing, Muay Thai, MMA, or similar — is eligible to compete in USA Boxing only if they:
Declare their prior combat-sports record when registering as a USA Boxing member.
Compete in the Open Division of their age class (they cannot enter novice divisions).
Are prohibited from boxing in any non-USA Boxing–sanctioned events.
In other words, once registered under USA Boxing, athletes may not compete in unsanctioned or “non-USA Boxing” events while maintaining eligibility for sanctioned USA Boxing competitions

🔹 Professional Combat Sports Contracts
Additionally, Rule 3.2.2 specifies that:
“Any Boxer who enters into a contract … with an entity or individual other than AIBA … related to such Boxer’s future participation in professional boxing or any other professional combat sport than boxing will not be eligible to participate in any AOB Competition at any level including … the Olympic Games.”

This means that signing a contract or agreement to fight professionally in MMA, kickboxing, or another combat sport disqualifies an athlete from USA Boxing and AIBA-sanctioned competition.
